The Whidbey Island Fly Fishing Club, founded in 1992, is a social organization of fly fishers, dedicated to providing our members with the resources they need to enjoy the sport of fly fishing, and to working to protect our environment and educate the public on the importance of conservation of our resources.

Coming Up

Executive Board Meeting: Wednesday, February 1, at 10 AM.  All members are welcome. This is a Zoom meeting; use this link to join. 

Club Meeting: Wednesday, February 8, at the Greenbank Clubhouse (3090 Firehouse Road, Greenbank).  Socializing starts at 6:30 PM; meeting starts at 7:00 PM.  As a follow-up to last month's presentation on fly lines, in which the arbitrary nature of assigning weights to fly rods was highlighted, Tom Langley will talk about the empirical technique he's developing for determining rod weight.

Club Meeting: Wednesday, March 8, at the Greenbank Clubhouse (3090 Firehouse Road, Greenbank).  Socializing starts at 6:30 PM; meeting starts at 7:00 PM.  Club member and bamboo rod maker, Jon Lyman, will help us understand bamboo rods: their intrinsic characteristics, how they compare to and contrast with synthetic rods, and where they might fit into your collection of fly rods.

Club Meeting: Wednesday, April 12, at the Greenbank Clubhouse (3090 Firehouse Road, Greenbank).  Socializing starts at 6:30 PM; meeting starts at 7:00 PM.  Club member Peter Ehrlichman will lead us through an African safari he and his wife, Debi, took last December. This non-fishing program is a great opportunity to include family in a club meeting, so bring your significant other.

Nyerges One-Fly Outing: Saturday, June 3 at 10 AM. Join us for our annual tip-of-the-hat to our club mentor, Gil Nyerges, as we fish with his signature fly on Lone Lake. The person catching the most fish in the two-hour "contest" window earns bragging rights. The club will provide lunch after fishing. See the Events page for details.
