Caught 15 pinks and then gave up counting. My friend and I were the only ones there. Definitely wilderness. This was 2 hours north of Campbell River, Vancouver Island.

Coho are not here yet in any numbers. Have been fishing most days with little results. Did get a nice fish at the end of low tide in area 8-1.

Question about fishing the St. Joe.

Bob-- I have fished the St. Joe for years as my favorite river. I consider the best time to fish it is in the fall. It is a very long river, I usually fish it in the mid section where it is accessible and the fish seem to concentrate in the fall. There is a sports shop in St. Maries that will have the flies that are working and provide updated information on the river. Upper stretch of river above Avery is more challenging. Tight lines!

Mark, I spent 3+ hours at Pass Lake. Tried everything with no success. There were 4 others fishing and they did not do well either. Must be the fish are picky these days! Tight lines!

Great write-up! Peter Tobin and I fish the Coeur D’Alene River every mid-October. We also fish the St. Joe about this time. These are walk in rivers and very accessible. The St. Joe can have larger trout during the spawn. The native cuts/rainbows are small but you can have fun with fishing dry flies.
