A Wet Fishless Day on the Skagit

    in Fishing Reports

Four of us floated in our PWCs from Swift Creek to Rockport (3 miles) yesterday in the pouring rain and were skunked. We only saw two Chums jump. There was no one else on the river. Maybe is was just a poor day; maybe the fish are farther up the river now. Still, it was good to be on the river and see the good water there is to fish. This stretch is definitely worth floating again.

Now that my fingers have thawed out and are working again I can add a comment... Also had a great time and if you haven’t floated the Skagit, this is a great stretch to test the waters. Short but gets you to plenty of fishy gravel bars that are otherwise not accessible by the road. The complete stretch is easy water to navigate even if brand new to floating rivers. Had a great time even though it was cold and soggy.
