    Let's Fish Ala Spit

The tides are good for fishing Ala Spit this weekend. Lows (very low) are in the early afternoon, and the incoming tide lasts until about dark. I hope to try my luck tomorrow (Friday) afternoon, and I'll be there for sure Sunday afternoon. I'd welcome company. While I'll try, I'm sure I can't catch

Last days in 2020 to Salmon fish from the beach

Still searching for Coho's. I am planning to fish Deception Pass at West Beach using the theory that the fish might be cruising by the beginning of the flood current. I have identified those times to be: Mon 9/28 8:00, Tues 9/29 9:00, Wed 9/30 10:00 I know this theory works on the other side at H

    Fishing Dilemma -- Seeking Advice

I have time to fish this Saturday. Ala Spit is very close to my place, and there is a good morning incoming tide. I'm likely to catch cutthroat there. But I hear Silvers are starting to appear on the west-side beaches, so I'd rather try for them if anyone can recommend a good beach to fish on an

Question about fishing the St. Joe.

My old fishing partner and his son want to fish the St. Joe in Idaho. Neither of us have fished it before. Can anyone tell us: What's the best time of year to fish and do you prefer the lower, or upper river (it's a really long river, and we've heard that the mid section isn't fishable/accessable)

Opening Day - Corona Virus Style...

I just (5-5-20 at 7:45 am) made a drive by to Pass, Erie, Campbell and Heart lakes. All were pretty busy and parking lots are packed. There was one spot left at Pass and if I was going to go fishing, that is where I would have launched. The parking lot didn't have anyone hanging out. The others

Pass Lake Parking Lot Looks Open

When I drove by Pass Lake last Saturday, the parking lot looked open: barriers and caution tape removed and sinkhole surrounded by four large boulders. The state park has confirmed that the lot is open, with (obviously) limited parking because of the area blocked off around the sinkhole. Still, that

    Pass Lake--Yes; Parking Lot--No

In case you haven't heard, here's a note Steve Raymond just received from a friend: " The current situation at Pass Lake is as follows. Pass Lake remains open to fishing. However, the parking area is closed indefinitely, making access to the lake difficult if not impossible. There is an 8 ft. wid

Fish Lone Lake Friday, Nov. 6

My son, the MT fishing guide, will be spending much of November on Whidbey. He wants to sample as much local fishing as he can while hear. For starters Mark McGinnis and I are taking him to Lone Lake on Friday, November 6, meeting at the lake about 9 AM. The weather might be damp, but not soggy.

Pass Lake Fish Census 3/21 - 4/4 Give the Fidalgo Fly Fishers a Hand by Fishing

Each year about this time the Fidalgo Fly Fishers (FFF) holds their Pass Lake Fish Census, gathering data on number of fish caught, species, length, and weight. This data augments the WDFW's own sampling data to help them better manage this fishery. FFF is hoping that members of other clubs will h

Pass Lake stocked with 600 Rainbows

Fish and Game stocked Pass Lake on May 1, 2019 with 600 1/2 lb Rainbows. This is the first time in the last 3 years that they decided to try planting larger trout since they have only been planting fry. They plan on evaluating outcome of this stocking vs. strictly planting fry.
