Lone Lake Conservation Document Library Launched

Members of our website (any club member can become website members) can now access a new file-sharing area of our website. One of the folders contains documents pertaining to Lone Lake Conservation, including management of the algae problem discussed at our last meeting. At the moment there are three documents: the algae management plan, a club newsletter summarizing the factors that lead to the fish kill of 2016, and a club newsletter describing efforts by our club and others to restock the lake following the fish kill.


You'll see a link to the new file-sharing page at the far right of the navigation bar at the top of each web page. It's labeled (no surprise) "File Share". Lone Lake Still Closed Due to Algae?

I have a potential club member from the mainland asking if Lone Lake is still closed due to algae. I assume it is, but does anyone know for sure? Thanks.

Algae Management Project Kickoff Meeting

Matt Zupich, Natural Resource Planner for the Whidbey Island Conservation District hosted a stakeholder meeting to kick off the algae management project for Lone Lake. I wasn't there myself, but I received a copy of Matt's email to the attendees and a PDF version of the PowerPoint presentation he made. Following is the body of his email and a link to the presentation.


"Hello Lone Lake stakeholders,

We had a great meeting last night at the Deer Lagoon Grange Hall to discuss the grant project Whidbey Island Conservation District has taken on to develop a Lone Lake Algae Management Plan.  About 30 people showed up with a lot of interest and excellent feedback and questions.   During the meeting, attendees requested I send out a PDF version of the PowerPoint that I presented; please see the attached document.
