Jeff Sturm, WIFFC member and leader of the North Sound program of Project Healing Waters, is busy outfitting his program. Below is a wish list he has shared. If you have any of these items that you'd like to donate, contact Jeff at jeff.sturm@projecthealingwaters.org or (360) 731-0047.
Wading boots
Non-studded (Vibram or felt…not picky)
Still in good shape with some life left in them
In a small variety of sizes, such as a pair of smaller size (M7-M9) that women could also use and pair each of M11, M13. I already have a pair of size M12s, but would take another pair.
Storage is going to become an issue sometime soon, so I don’t want to get too many!
Waders
I could use a pair of smaller sizes (Mens S or M) that could also be comfortably worn by women.
We need an XL-reg or XL-tall pair—all I have currently are XL-Short.
I DO NOT want old neoprene waders—I already have a several donated pairs of OLD ones that we will probably never use!
Wading Belts are also needed
Jackets
Lightly used waterproof wading jackets in L and XL. Only need one of each.
Wading Staff(s)
Any old collapsible wading staffs would be appreciated.
Stripping Baskets
Rod and reels
Always in need in rods and reels in the 4-8 wt range.
I would prefer to stay away from old junk stuff, I already have several of those that were donated before I could get my hands around everything.
I keep a quantity of quality rods and reels (4-8wt) on-hand as loaners for our events, but I’m trying to cycle through them and provide non-need rods/reels to our active participants.
About half of my donated reels need new line. I’m purchasing lines as the needs arise since I don’t have a great feel for what type of line will be needed. I see this as a great use for the Confluence Gift Card, but if someone has a gently used line in the 4-8wt range (that would be useful for around here, I would take them). Sizes I think would be useful
4-6wt
WF-4/5/6-F
WF-4/5/6-S
WF-6-I
7-8wt
WF-7/8-F
WF-7/8-I
WF-7/8-F/Sink Tip
Fly Fishing Tools
I have an assortment of fly fishing tools that get donated. I try to distribute as needed, while keeping enough on-hand as loaners. Not something I need regularly (so far), but I suspect things I can always use:
Forceps
Nippers
Old Packs (sling, fanny, backpacks, etc)
Soft Rubber nets
Fly boxes
Fly Tying Vises and Tools
The imitation-Regal clamp-on vises that we’re currently using aren’t working the best and we need vises with bases.
I have ordered 10 Regals with weighted bases that are coming sometime this year, but no ETA yet.
Once we start meetings in Everett, Burlington, and Bellingham, we will quickly be short of our needs and shuttling vises between the four meeting locations will be untenable.
Therefore, I need quality used vises with weighted bases. I can purchase more via program funds, but any donated ones I get will free up budget for fishing trips.
I also like to donate vises to active participants to use at home as I have them available.
Fly tying tools are always going to be in short supply.
Thank you, Mark!
